Recipe: Oriental Sweet Sour Fish

This recipe is quite special to me as it reminds me of my mother. During my childhood years, she always cooks this dish for our family and now, I’m doing the same for my family.

I always thought that I need to strictly follow the recipe in order to produce the similar sweet sour fish as my mother used to cook. Actually, it is more fun if we take it easy and enjoy while cooking in the kitchen. The important thing is, you have to love what you are doing.

So, let’s have a look at today’s recipe: Oriental Sweet Sour Fish. And as usual, my style!

Ingredients

  • Seabass
  • Turmeric powder
  • Salt & Pepper
  • Diced Garlic
  • Diced Shallot
  • Chili Paste
  • Chili Sauce
  • Tomato Sauce
  • Plum Sauce
  • Sugar
  • 4-angle bean
  • Onion
  • Thyme
  • Cucumber

Looks like we need lots of ingredients for today’s recipe aye? No worries. I promise this one will be easier than pulling this kind of stunt:

Let’s Start Cooking!

  1. Season the seabass with turmeric powder, salt & pepper and fry it. Set aside.
  2. In a medium hot pan, put in the garlic and shallot. Brown them a bit and quickly add in the chili paste. Stir until the paste turn a bit dry.
  3. Add in the rest of the ingredients excluding cucumber. Stir to the preferred consistency.
  4. In a serving plate, arrange the sliced cucumber around and place the fried seabass in the middle. Pour the sauce on top of the fish.

Did I tell you this one is easy? :-D
